Three Chimneys Farm announced today the arrival of War Chant's first foal, a bay filly out of Grands Jettes, by Nureyev.
Grands Jettes is a half-sister to Dispersal, a Grade I winner of $1,461,137. The mare, owned by Marjorie and Irving Cowan, is boarded at Patchen Wilkes Farm. Patchen Wilkes manager Barry Ezrine described the youngster as, "a nice leggy, correct filly." She was foaled at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 25.
War Chant (by Danzig, out of champion Hollywood Wildcat, by Kris S) won the Breeders' Cup Mile-G1 of 2000, and had a total of five wins and one second in seven career starts. He earned $1,071,720 in five starts on the dirt and two on the turf. He stands at Three Chimneys Farm for a fee of $75,000 guaranteed live foal.
"We're delighted to have his first foal on the ground," said Three Chimneys owner Robert N. Clay. "He had an exceptional first book of mares, that included eleven mares that are either G1 winners or are the dams of G1 winners, and at last count 80 mares are reported in foal to him, so you could say we're looking forward to many happy returns."
